Identifying Those Really Shiny Chassis
A collaborative effort by the regulars at scratchbuilt.com,
compiled and edited by Jim Allen, March 19, 2004
For more than a year, we have been discussing
the proper identification of a pair of shiny chassis on the Message Board.
This article presents pictures of these chassis, and
some of the data so far collected about them.
Comments, contributions, clarifications and constructive
contradictions are always welcome! --TJA

Chassis 1
Joe Verrastro
sent me an email asking for help with the identification
of a really shiny chassis he'd come across. He sent a picture, which
I posted on our Message Board, and the adventure began!

We
can suppose from the box that Dynamic Models was selling this car. Intrigued, I followed up, and
Joe sent me three more pictures of his car.

Note the plumber hinge attachment is behind the front axle brace.

Chassis 2
One reason I was intrigued by Joe's chassis is that I own a similar, really shiny chassis.
I compared them. Their mirror-like finishes are stunning,
but the chassis designs differ in noticable ways.
See more pictures of my shiny chassis at My Collection 61.

Note the plumber hinge is attached to the front of the drop arm.

Chassis 2 above, Chassis 1 below, for close comparison. Okay, I can tell them apart. Maybe.
