Highlights from Jack Beers' Slot Car Collection:
#11 Porsche 906
Jack writes:
"This is another of my efforts. Powered by a Strombecker Hemi 300
(back when these motors were brand new). Body and frame are by Jack Beers.
The frame is rather a crude effort, but I was in a big hurry!"
"This car is the only one I have that might be said to have a
little history to it. If you can find a July 1966 Rod & Custom magazine,
you'll find a report on one of the races they put on - this car won Concours.
Regretfully, I didn't even qualify for the race itself, but guys like Cukras,
Morrisey, Doug Henline, Terry Schmid and even Jim Russell were there."
"This car is all-original except for the rear axle and modern tires.
I am waiting for a set from eBay that will bring it back to as-raced condition.
Front wheels are Dynamic (if memory serves - corrections welcome)."
"Interesting note here: after 30 years I brought this thing out of mothballs
for an 'antique' race, and heck if it didn't win - after all that time of being ignored.
Don't tell me old slot cars don't have souls!"
