Scott Skinner: 1970-71 Phaze III Group 12 RTR
Scott Skinner sends these pictures of a restoration project where he is afraid he went overboard. What?
No slot car scratchbuilder would ever get so caught up in his project as to neglect his real job or his
family and friends, right?! Oh the incurable disease...

This is a Phaze III group 12 ready to run from 1970-71, This was the
chassis of choice for the then brand new NCC group 12. I was thrilled to
find this one on Ebay last year with the pink Mura B can motor. Some might
say I got a little carried away on this restoration. When I started to
clean up the chassis, I decided flip it over and make it can drive (see the
original photo). I also blueprinted the motor and re-painted the can. I ran
a 2-56 tap through the mounting screw holes in the can and used button head
allen machine screws. All the parts are original except the guide flag,
lead wires and rear tires. This car is pretty fast and a blast to drive. I
love the sound of the hard front wheels actually rolling on the track!
