My Collection 10
A scratchbuilt slot car chassis from Jim Allen's Collection.
Item:
American Line AML 1006 Group 15 chassis
Collector:
Jim Allen
Date collected:
Aug. 1, 2001
Source:
auction
Made by:
American Line
Made when:
mid to late 70's style, but actually made when? in the 90s?
Notes:
Steel rail and plumbered brass pan anglewinder chassis. This is a "two and a half rail" chassis. Note that the side pans are not floppy (tracks are getting smoother.).

The plumber hinge is mounted on the front of the drop arm. Downforce from the body presses down both the guide and the plumber crossbar.
On acceleration, the front wheels can lift to disipate torque, without lifting the guide flag. The resulting weight shift presses the rear tires down for better traction.

Original tag and plastic bag.
