Vintage Blue Chaparral 2F Sports Car
Item: 1/24 scale brass wire sports car chassis with a wingless yet beautiful blue body.
Collector: Jim Allen
Date collected: May 1, 2002
Source: auction
Made by: unknown chassis builder
Made when: Mid-1960s
Notes: This chassis has an unusual design. Note: no drop arm, no moving body mounts,
the design anticipates the tripod look (but not the tripod function).
Body, motor, wires and guide, locknut wheels and tires are all shown as found.
I believe it is from late in the era of widest experimentation, about 1967.

Update: Sept. 7, 2004
I was just looking at Model Car and Track from October 1967, and there
is my chassis! Well, close enough, with its diagonal main rails and Dynamic Mag fronts. My chassis
is very similar to, and likely influenced by, this one by Chris Chan, in the article
Pro Chassis Western Style. He calls this a Pro Perimeter Chassis.
