Four Significant Slot Cars
from Don Siegel's Collection
Don Siegel has sent these images of several excellent
slot cars from his collection, including a Shinoda-bodied
scratchbuilt. Enjoy!
I asked Don about Larry Shinoda bodies, and he replied:
"There was a big article in the April '68 issue of
Model Car & Racing (their last issue) called Things about Thingies, with
photos of cars from Shores Raceway, which is near Detroit, Michigan.
These cars had the Shinoda bodies, mostly Dyna Rewinds, silastic
tires and either scratch or modified Dynamic chassis. I have a car of this
type, with a Shinoda body."

Above: "Here is the modified Dynamic chassis under the
Larry Shinoda body. It has an MPC Hi-Rise motor. Most of these chassis were
built a little more cleanly than this one, and used either a 26D or 16D
rewind. The High-Rise was unusual, but maybe some kid pirated it out of his
Manta Ray and went Thingie!"

Above: "This perimeter 'stocker' chassis
is probably Midwestern, because of the Dyna motor and what seems to be
a Figure 8 style chassis, but I can't be too sure."
See more pictures of this chassis.

I found in an ebay lot."
