HO Scratchbuilding in the Vintage Magazines, pg. 4
by Jim Allen, June 2004
In February 1970, three companies introduced ground-breaking HO scale cars: TYCO, Cobramite and Riggen. Each car
featured an outstanding multi-part brass pan chassis, a tempting foundation for much experimentation.

February 1970, TYCO introduces the TycoPro, the most advanced, widely-available
HO scale slot car until traction magnets came along. A major hit for TYCO.
|
February 1970 also witnessed the introduction of the Cobramite,
with its advanced drop-motor iso-fulcrum chassis design.
|
The third strike against Aurora came from Riggen, with its rattling body mounting pan. Car Model 2-70.
|
A year later, in March 1971, came the first production HO anglewinder, the Dyna-Brute, from Dynamic.
